Continuing on my reviews/comments of the many San Diego eateries I'm talking about one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, Casa Guadalajara ("Casa"). Casa is a staple here in San Diego. You can tell the food is amazing because there's always along wait. However, do not let deter you! You can go to the bar and wait. During happy hour they have nachos and other snacks to snack on.
Casa is located on Taylor street just around the corner from Old Town San Diego.
One of my favorite aspects about the restaurant is the decor. I love all the colors and cultural Mexican decor. In every corner there is something new. One of my favorite pieces of wall art is the array of suns located at the front entrance.
I arrived with my parents and aunt and uncle and waited at the bar for 30 minutes. We watched a woman make handmade tortillas while sipping on drinks. The chargers game was on at the bar with the few Chargers fans left in San Diego rooting for hopeless team. (not a fan if you can't tell).
We sat outside in the beautiful little patio adorned with string lights. I've looked at the menu so many times but I always have trouble deciding because they have such a vast menu with so many options! Instead of my go to "cheese enchilada" order, I decided to get the tequila lime shrimp, a dish Casa is known for.
A you can see, the shrimp came with black beans and Spanish rice. Everything on the plate was delicious! I highly recommend the shrimp if you overload on chips and handmade tortillas like I did and need something on the lighter side!
After a delicious meal with my family we left the restaurant. We will definitely be back because this is one of our favorite restaurants. As always, message me if you have any questions!
